All I can say is God bless the souls of those in that situation.

I think many of you don't realize what kind of people actually make less than $25k per year individually.

If you send your kid(s) to a daycare, chances are, the staff there make less than $25k per year.

I asked a guy working on a building in the Woodlands in the other day what are their day rates and he said that Marek ( http://www.marekbros.com/contact/houston ) starts you off at $12 an hour.
So, you're hanging drywall all day then go to class Friday nights but you're making less than $25k per year (I'm not counting overtime).

Couple kids, a few years out of high school, she has her AA in Elementary Ed making $12 at the daycare that charges $350 per week per kid.
He's hanging drywall and digging ditches all day trying to learn the trades.
Combined they pulled in $47k last year.

I'd say give them a break, especially if I'm making $47k per month (or more).

And how old are these folks?

Edit: I'm assuming they are young after re reading your post. So what exactly do you expect them to be making fresh out of school? Everybody has to start somewhere.

And you have to make smart choices in regards to your career choice as well. She may very well love what she does, but just realize she may or may not get "rich" doing it.

Everybody has the opportunity to make the life they want in the US. I am high school educated and have worked with my hands all my life starting out as a minimum wage roustabout fresh out of high school. Decided I wanted to learn a trade and became an electrician. Worked my *** of in industrial plants and ditches and worked my way up to where I am now making a very nice salary as a project manager and I still have 20 years left for my career to grow.

My wife is similar. High school graduate, worked mostly minimum wage jobs for our early married life. Managed to raise 2 kids making lower middle class money. We didn't always have the nicest stuff but we made it because we were determined to. Best decision we made was to send her to nursing school where she graduated magna *** laudé and got a degree. That was just the springboard to the woman she is today. She has since gone back to school and got her Bachelors and Masters degrees mostly on her employer's dime and combined we make a very good living.

Attitude and determination has more to do with the success of someone than any government break ever will.

Wayne Allyn Root on Donald Trump

Actually, no matter what everyone thinks about Donald Trump, the writer of this article, Wayne Allyn Root is a respected journalist and was once a candidate for office with the Liberal Party. Root does have the correct take on the dismal state of the American political system, which is totally corrupt.
It is well worth your time to read this very interesting article. This is well written and gives ‘Middle Class Americans’ something (a lot) to think about!!

            TRUMP

Some people are getting very nervous, including Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett, Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton and Jon Corzine, to name just a few. And I know why.
I wrote a book titled “The Murder of the Middle Class” about the unholy conspiracy between big government, big business and big media. They all benefit by the billions of dollars from this partnership, and it’s in all of their interests to protect one another. It’s one for all and all for one. It’s a heck of a filthy relationship that makes everyone filthy rich — everyone except the American people. We get ripped off. We’re the patsies.

But for once, the powerful socialist cabal and the corrupt crony capitalists are scared. I’ve never seen them this outraged, this vicious, this motivated or this coordinated. Never in all my years in politics have I seen anything like the way the mad dogs of hell have been unleashed on Donald Trump. When white supremacist David Dukes ran for governor of Louisiana , even he wasn’t treated with this kind of outrage, vitriol and disrespect. When a known fraud, scam artist, and tax cheat like Al Sharpton ran for president, I never saw anything remotely close to this. The over-the-top reaction to Trump by politicians of both parties, the media and the biggest corporations of America has been so swift and insanely angry that it suggests they are all threatened and frightened like never before.

Why? Duke was never going to win. Sharpton was never going to win. Ron Paul was never going to win. Ross Perot was never going to win as a third-party candidate. Those candidates either didn’t have or couldn’t spare the billion dollars it takes to win the presidency. But Donald Trump can self-fund that amount tomorrow and still have another billion left over to pour into the last two-week stretch run before Election Day. No matter how much they say to the contrary, the media, business and political elite understand that Trump is no joke. He could actually win and upset their nice cozy apple cart.

It’s no coincidence that everyone has gotten together to destroy The Donald. No, this is a coordinated conspiracy led by President Barack Obama himself. Obama himself is making the phone calls and giving the orders; he’s the ultimate intimidator who plays by the rules of Chicago thug politics.
Why is this so important to Obama? It’s because most of the other politicians are part of the “old boys club.” They talk big, but in the end they won’t change a thing. Why? They are all beholden to big-money donors. They are all owned by lobbyists, unions, lawyers, gigantic environmental organizations and multinational corporations like Big Pharma or Big Oil. Or they are owned lock, stock and barrel by foreigners like George Soros owns Obama or foreign governments own Hillary with their Clinton Foundation donations.
These run-of-the-mill establishment politicians are all puppets owned by big money. But there’s one man — and only one man — who isn’t beholden to anyone. There’s one man who doesn’t need foreigners, or foreign governments, or George Soros, or the United Auto Workers, or the teachers union, or the Service Employees International Union, or the bar association to fund his campaign.

Billionaire tycoon and maverick Donald Trump doesn’t need anyone’s help. That means he doesn’t care what the media says. He doesn’t care what the corporate elites think. That makes him very dangerous to the entrenched interests. That makes Trump a huge threat. Trump can ruin everything for the bribed politicians and their spoiled slave masters.
Don’t you ever wonder why the GOP has never tried to impeach Obama? Don’t you wonder why John Boehner and Mitch McConnell talk a big game, but never actually try to stop Obama? Don’t you wonder why Congress holds the purse strings, yet has never tried to defund Obamacare or Obama’s clearly illegal executive action on amnesty for illegal aliens? Bizarre, right? It defies logic, right?

Well, first, I’d guess many key Republicans are being bribed. Secondly, I believe many key Republicans are being blackmailed. Whether they are having affairs, or secretly gay, or stealing taxpayer money, the National Security Agency knows everything.

Ask former House Speaker Dennis Hastert about that. The government even knew he was withdrawing large sums of his own money from his own bank account. Trust me: The NSA, the SEC, the IRS and all the other three-letter government agencies are watching every Republican political leader. They know everything.

Thirdly, many Republicans are petrified of being called “racists.” So they are scared to ever criticize Obama or call out his crimes, let alone demand his impeachment.
Fourth, why rock the boat? After defeat or retirement, if you’re a “good boy,” you’ve got a $5 million-per-year lobbying job waiting. The big-money interests have the system gamed. Win or lose, they win.

But Trump doesn’t play by any of these rules. Trump breaks up this nice, cozy relationship between big government, big media and big business. All the rules are out the window if Trump wins the presidency. The other politicians will protect Obama and his aides — but not Trump. Remember: Trump is the guy who publicly questioned Obama’s birth certificate. He questioned Obama’s college records and how a mediocre student got into an Ivy League university. Now, he’s doing something no Republican has the chutzpah to do. He’s questioning our relationship with Mexico; questioning why the border is wide open; questioning why no wall has been built across the border; questioning if allowing millions of illegal aliens into America is in our best interests; questioning why so many illegal aliens commit violent crimes yet are not deported; and questioning why our trade deals with Mexico, Russia and China are so bad.

Trump has the audacity to ask out loud why American workers always get the short end of the stick. Good question.

I’m certain Trump will question what happened to the almost billion dollars given in a rigged no-bid contract to college friends of Michelle Obama at foreign companies to build the defective Obamacare website. By the way, that tab is now up to $5 billion.

Trump will ask if Obamacare’s architects can be charged with fraud for selling it by lying. He will ask if Obama himself committed fraud when he said, “If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep it.”

Trump will investigate Obama’s widespread IRS conspiracy, not to mention Obama’s college records.

Trump will prosecute Clinton and Obama for fraud committed to cover up Benghazi before the election.

How about the fraud committed by employees of the Labor Department when they made up dramatic job numbers in the last jobs report before the 2012 election?
Obama, the multinational corporations and the media need to stop this. They recognize this could get out of control. If left unchecked telling the raw truth and asking questions everyone else is afraid to ask, Trump could wake a sleeping giant.

Trump’s election would be a nightmare. Obama has committed many crimes. No one else but Trump would dare to prosecute. He will not hesitate. Once Trump gets in and gets a look at “the cooked books” and Obama’s records, the game is over. The gig is up. The goose is cooked.

Holder could wind up in prison. Jarrett could wind up in prison. Obama bundler Corzine could wind up in prison for losing $1.5 billion of customer money.

Clinton could wind up in jail for deleting 32,000 emails, or for accepting bribes from foreign governments while secretary of state, or for “misplacing” $6 billion as the head of the State Department, or for lying about Benghazi.

The entire upper level management of the IRS could wind up in prison.

Obamacare will be defunded and dismantled.

The Obama crime family will be prosecuted for crimes against the American people. And Obama himself could wind up ruined, his legacy in tatters.

Trump will investigate. Trump will prosecute. Trump will go after everyone involved — just for fun. That will all happen on Trump’s first day in the White House. Who knows what Trump will do on Day 2?

That’s why the dogs of hell have been unleashed on Donald Trump.

            ~ Wayne Allyn Root

I've never figured out why EIC is called a tax refund. If you don't make very much and have a bunch of kids you don't pay any income tax and get a big check at tax time. That dosn't fit the description of a refund.

im probably the most conservative guy you will ever meet but the fact is the wealth is too concentrated in this country and uber wealthy continue to gain more wealth at a greater pace than any other class. I don't believe in punishing people for success but the politics in America have become too corrupt and the wealthy have too much control. I don't find his policy socialist in general although i think everyone should have skin in the game, it's what motivates folks to do better. Trumps plan will resonate with people because he is rich and he will be subjecting himself to rules that will "hurt" him which is completely contrary to the way Washington has been ran in the past. What's good for the goose is good for the gander!

I'm not saying you can make a career out of flipping burgers at McDonald's but I thought being a pre-K teacher would be something someone could do for 5-10 years and "raise a family on" earning those wages.
                    I was wrong.
That work can pay $10-18 per hour depending upon which place you go.
If the daycare is only charging $800-$1k per month per kid, how much do you think they can pay their workers?

It's a sad day when we don't want those making less than $2k per month to not pay taxes and we also don't want those that make under $4k per month to earn overtime.

Your wife is a nurse. But if the nursing market in Texas gets flooded by Philipinos like it has in California get ready for wage stagnation.
                    No more $1k shifts

Have you actually run the numbers on a couple making $4k per month (GROSS) and what they can do with that?
                    Say 25% goes to taxes
                    That's $3k left
Then they have $3k left to live, eat, get to work, yeah that 's pretty crazy.
That's TWO PEOPLE that have worked 320 hours in a month for that money.

This is a crazy place where we hope and pray for $3 gas so we can have $80k oil hands but we keep our feet on the necks of those stroking 40 every week in and week out for a measley $2k per month

I'd bet if you divided it all up equally and let free enterprise do its thing, in about 10 years it'd be back to where it's at today.

I'm sure your wife has classmates that she makes twice more per hour than and I'm sure she has classmates that make more than she does. Both groups whom were "smarter" and "more determined" than your wife.

It's not all about smarts and determination.
Sometimes, people just get lucky breaks.
Look at this clock radio bomb boy in Dallas.
                        He's probably very average.
But his family cooked up a scheme to get him exposure which has given him an edge to get invited to Google, The White House and Harvard (or one of those Ivy League Schools).

There are people reaching all the way back to grade school who are smarter and more determined than me, but I'm pretty sure I "earn more" than they do. I was simply "lucky" enough to fall into the positions that I've landed.

I could have been determined as much as I wanted and had the best attitude but I was never going to be playing pro ball for the Rangers.

                        Life is not fair.

This graph is a joke. Yes they pay more tax but that is not the issue, the issue is percent of income. I pay way more percentage of income toward tax than anyone in the top 1%. I would like my tax lowered but if it doesn't get lowered that's ok. Just make everyone responsible for the same percentage. Then no one can claim they were done wrong.

I agree! I started out as a roustabout making $12.00 an hour in 1999 and was at $14.50 in 2001 when I quit. I then went to work for my current company in 2002 making $15.50 an hr. My wife who worked for the same company was making $50,000 at 27 and I was 23 making $55,000. We stayed with the same company and 13 years later after multiple promotions( because we work hard) have increased our income substantially.
