Anyone running the marathon this year? This will be my first one, i have already run a few half marathons, but ready to step up to a new level. Any advice?

Is it bad? We are thinking about getting a hotel close so we don't have to mess with it that morning.

I ran it a few years ago and have run the half there. It is fun with great fan support. There are a few hills but not too bad on the marathon. The half does have some major hills after mile 10. Get a hotel room down town and save the parking/ traffic headache.

Austin is my favorite marathon by far. Lots and lots of friendly people come out to support the runners along the way. Quite a few live bands playing and it all feels like a long festival with plenty of fun things to see along the way. The course is/was quite a bit of downhill so that's a good thing. The goodies/food at the end were delicious! Soft tacos, fruit, good drinks and all that. Have fun and good luck!

I've ran it twice and had a great experience both times...well organized with amazing fan support. One piece of advice - book your hotel room now. Hotels in downtown are typically completely full that wknd. Have fun!!!
