    cost of foam insulation

what is the cost of foam insulation 1" thick for 1500 sq ft. walls and roof.

what is the cost of rolled insulation on a metal building installed during the build. 1500 sq feet.

Don't remember the costs off the top of my head but I can attest to how freakin great foam insulation is. It made working in attics in the middle of the summer a walk in the park. Wish every attic I crawled into had it in there

My temperature in the attic never gets over 80 degrees, even on those 104 days. I love foam insulation.

Why would it be only 1 inch thick.

I know closed cell is around 6 r factor at 1 in think. And open cell s around 3.5 per inch.

I don't see closed cell in houses around here just metal buildings. Open cell in houses.

Open cell here is around 1.45 square ft for 3.5 in thick. I think closed is a little higher for just 1 in thick.

The foam guys usually put a minimum of 3 to 4". My guy I used on metal buildings sold his business so I don't know any one now. He was $1 per foot at 3" thickness. The roll out insulation cost almost that much before installation costs and sucked later. Rats could live behind it with out you even knowing. It eventually falls down, no matter what they tell you. The foam actually seals the building.

Following along. I'm getting ready to build a new home and I'm thinking about using foam. I've heard pro's and cons. I'm not afraid to spend the extra money if it's really worth it.
