Kept and ate the heart on the last several deer I've killed and will probably continue to do so. Liver is just not my thing, coyotes get those.

I eat hearts and livers of deer and hogs. For those of y'all that don't want to eat them, keep in mind that they make great catfish bait because they don't stink and they stay on the hook really well.

For saving for bait, cut them into strips and seal a few strips in small ziplock snack bags so you don't have to thaw out a whole pound of more just to go wet a line or run a few jugs.

took a deer heart in to class in 3rd grade, teacher took it home and cooked it, then brought it back the next day, passed it out to the whole class, mixed with grilled onions. it was delicious...

We keep the hearts and livers, my wife takes the liver and cooks it down with the stew meat, the gravy It makes is top notch. I don't eat the liver meat but love the flavor it gives the stew meat.
