Hog meat this time of year

I've only hunted hogs in the winter but a buddy of mine is going this weekend. Is there any concern with eating the meat? He's going to dress, skin and quarter it as soon as it hits the ground and ice it down but I didn't know if there is any concern. Thanks

No worries on the meat, just get it on ice like you said. Hog meat is tasty 365.

I do it pretty regular. Just make sure you cook it well enough to kill and parasite that might be present

I know a lot of people that eat them year round. But I'm kinda leery about it when it's been this hot for so long.

Never had any complaints from my coyotes. They will eat it all year long.

As others have said, just ice it down right away and you're good

Meats good. Just get it gutted, quartered and on ice ASAP. Then when ready to eat cook thoroughly and you are good to go. No pink pork. I just caught 23 40-70 pounders this week. Butchered a couple to BBQ this weekend. Nice and tender.

Not much difference in shooting and eating a deer in 90 degrees in October.

How do you think sausage, or pork chops, or bacon is made this time of year. whether wild or domesticated the heat is heat. like others have said get that sucker quartered and on ice quick.

I've killed big ones in August. Just follow the above advice.

I have everything I need (ice, knives, hoist) in the truck and get them on ice within 45 minutes.

Lots of old wive's tales out there about game meat not being good in hot weather--it's all about how you take care of it. Rabbits and squirrels may have botfly warbles (wolves) in hot weather, but they don't make their carcasses inedible--just hard to get by the appearance.
