    Carrying w/o CHL question

I would like to start carrying my revolver in my vehicle with me, but I am unsure of the rules when you don't have a CHL.

I know that you cannot take the weapon out of your vehicle w/o repercussions, but what else is there that I need to be aware of?

FTR, I will be getting my CHL in the near future, but until then I would like to have my pistol with me.

    Must be concealed.

I believe as long as it is concealed in your vehicle you are fine. There are places that you are not supposed to have it even in your vehicle like the post office, airport etc

        Here is a scenario...

Stopped at a gas station filling up and some guy pulls a weapon on me and demands my wallet. If I reenter my vehicle, pull the pistol from glove box, and then draw on him, is that legal? All of this while standing out side of my truck.

Carried in my center console long before I had my CHL.

Just look up the Castle Law

Good to go there as far as I see.

KNOW the laws so you don't end up in prison for murder just because you were trying to protect yourself & family.

Car and concealed is fine. It's an extension from your house if I remember correctly. In the scenario above, weather you have a chl or not, get ready for some litigation. There is an attorney at the end of each bullet fired.

This is probably the easiest way to explain this. I even brought this scenario up during my CHL class. Neither the instructor nor a sheriff's deputy in the class could really give me a clear answer. What I took away from the conversation was "do what you have to do to protect yourself, and pray your lawyer can convince the judge to see things from your perspective".

If someone is robbing you at a gas station while you are standing at the pump and they allow you to get back in your truck and go into the glove box/center console/arm rest then (I assume chamber a round and take safety off before) shooting them they are DUMB and SLOW.

I'm sorry but I just don't see this situation playing out like this.

Thank you for clearing up the grey area. It was merely a hypothetical scenario. My reasoning for asking a question like that is to define what is legal or not legal.

A similar, and more plausible situation such as some road raged idiot who cuts you off for whatever reason, stops his vehicle and gets out and approaches you.

To me that scenario could warrant the response of pulling your weapon while staying put in the vehicle. But what happens if you step foot OUT Of your vehicle while the weapon is pulled? Does the castle doctrine still apply even though you do not have a CHL?

IMO, I'm going to do whatever is in my power to protect myself regardless of where I am in relation to the vehicle, but I could be wrong about that, thus resulting in me starting this thread and trying to get advice.

I can tell u from personal experience w a friend of mine, if u shoot someone and kill them, your going to face a murder charge more than likely. I've had two friends shoot people for real, one is in prison for the next 9yrs the other got off due to video. It's a serious thing to really have to use your weapon. My wife did see in a Walmart parking lot a guy try to assault a woman and take h we purse, she had a gun and held the guy till the police arrived. That's the smartest thing to do.

IF you ever have to draw on someone, don't advance on them. Stand your ground. Even if the situation then cools off and everyone goes home happy, IMMEDIATELY call the police to report what happened.

Judged by 12 or carried by 6?
Rather debate the legality in court than become a statistic.
