Generic shoulder mount with interchangeable antlers

Why hasn't someone done this yet?

A generic whitetail shoulder mount that allows a hunter to simply change antlers seems like it would be a pretty good seller.

A person could just install the mounting hardware on the antlers they have taken off their latest deer, then put them on the shoulder mount to display until they get another buck, or whenever they feel like displaying another set of antlers.

I'm a little surprised there isn't a taxidermist who has done this yet. Think of the $ and space it would save. Just remove the antlers and take them to the taxidermist for them to install the mounting hardware and hair cap, then put them on the generic mount...

    Makes sense to me.

How many of us have 4, 8 or 10 sets of antlers we all keep around? I know I probably have 2-3 sets I'd fit with mounting hardware, or have fitted, and display at one time or another. I might be able to talk the wife into a single shoulder mount in the house, but 2 or more would never fly.

Because then they wouldn't make the amount of money they do from selling new shoulder mounts. Personally if I shoot a deer I find shoulder mount worthy, I want to keep him there and see how many others I can hang up around him!

They do it in the breeder word. They make a bracket you can buy that is made for sheds. The bracket has square holed brackets on it that hold square pins you epoxy in the bottom of a set of antlers and then drop them in place. Only problem is to set spread you are kinda limited as the base is permanently attached to the head.

I have thought about this for years. Mount the head then have horns with a stud that would slide in to a fitting. Swapping out the horns as you wanted.

I would think mounting a set of antlers on a generic shoulder mount would be better than the antler 'plaque' mounts most of us poor boys use.

If a taxi did a generic shoulder mount, that would be one more mount than they would ever get out of me otherwise, plus whatever they might make affixing the mounting hardware to the sets of antlers.

Since rarely do we ever see the top of a shoulder mount's head, it would be simple enough to leave the two antlers attached, and cover the skull plate with some fake hair, then install the whole unit to preserve the spread and natural position of the antlers.

I know those things are around, but that's not what I mean. I mean a REAL shoulder mount that has a spot for interchangeable antlers. If done even reasonably well, most folks would never notice. Esp. if the mount was hung up high.

I'll just keep hanging them in my office and only shooting deer that I want to get mounted.

So you want something easy, cheap and that will look good up high....How is that rubber deer not for you? Just hang it higher...LOL

I have swapped out antlers before but only on deer I've mounted

Revolutionary shed connectors offer ease of adjustment as well as stability for large antlers.
