Neighbor just knocked on door to tell me, over the weekend just a few houses down was broken into. Theives ransacked the whole house. Luckily guy and his wife weren't home, out of town I think. Think I'll be sleeping a little lighter from now on. Been hearing about some bugularies going on around Nederland, this was way to close for comfort.

Out of town...hmmm. Seems maybe someone knew they were not going to be there and they seized the opportunity. Probably wouldn't have the balls to invade a home with the chance of an encounter.

Wife and I just moved into a new house and the garage has one side that's 'open' (like a carport). I bought 6 motion-activated flood lights and basically surrounded the house, esp the garage area. I think that bright lights, esp ones that turn on at a potential burglar, will really help...just passing along. Still keep my 9mm at bedside but prefer never having to use it

Ya I have a big flood light in the backyard, behind locked privacy fence. Plus the 2 labs will alert to anything moving around fence. They don't bark to bark, only if something is moving.

But don't like idea of people scouting neighborhood, espically with deer season so close.
