    Identification while hunting

I did not know this. I leave my wallet from time to time in the 5th wheel while at the lease, especially if working. I always take a gun for hogs and such, which could be considered hunting. I also have a lifetime license and hunt on MLDIII, so never gave it much thought.

    Identification Requirements
State law requires that a person 17 years of age or older, while hunting or fishing, must have on their person a driver’s license or a personal identification certificate issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Yep. And have on your possession your hunting license.

      Stays in my pack.

They can run your ID to check if you have a hunting license. I always figured they could do the reverse, especially with a lifetime.

I don't take my wallet into the woods for fear of losing it. I carry an expired DL and my license only.

They can run your ID to check for a license, but I promise you they won't always do that. I carry my license and my ID in my wallet and tend to leave it in the truck while I'm duck hunting, wearing waders and not wanting my wallet to get wet. I've had them call it in, been forced to go back to the truck with the GW to get it, and also received a citation for not having it on my person. I still rarely carry it with me when I duck hunt. lol.

I don't know the exact law but I was told once by a cop that an expired license is not a legal form of identification. I've used them before with no trouble but if someone wanted to hassle you they probably could.

                Carry it wherever you go.

                NO EXCUSES.

If wade duck hunting put in a bag or shoulder bag on the shore.

I have preached to my son carry and ID and any licenses with you.

                NO EXCUSES

I carry my wallet in my pack when hunting, always. I have left it at the lease once, but I would rather be stopped by the police than be caught without it while hunting. I feel any policeman would be more lenient than my county GW.

I put either my DL of CHL in the little pouch they have when you buy your license at wally world or academy. That goes in a pocket that zips or velcro closes and it is the only thing in that pocket. Even if those get wet it's not going to hurt them. My wallet normally stays in the truck once I get to the gate of where ever I am hunting so I don't loose or forget it.

My permit, tags, and DL stay in my bino pack at all times when I'm headed outdoors. Hard to forget or lose them that way.

I just carry my whole wallet with everything in it. I don't lose it crawling all over cars every day I ain't gonna lose it sitting in a dang chair.

This is true, I used to carry an expired one as well and the game warden checked me and said no Bueno! It has to be a current dl or id
