I was just starting out working on the family ranch back then...I went into the house for something and my cousins grandma had the tv on with this shocked look on her face. I stood there watching that first tower smoking just as the second plane hit. I was dumbfounded as many were.

I didn't get anything done that day.

    I'll never forget!!!

      Thanks for sharing Dave!

I remember walking into class my freshman year in HS and everyone talking about the first plane. Moments later the 2nd plane hit and at that point discussion became silent and all eyes including our teachers were watching CNN. Announcement came over the intercom from the principal for all TVs to be turned off and everyone proceed with class. I was in my AP Art class at the time. Teacher said our assignment can wait as she believed it was important that we watch. Nothing but chills, tears and praying between classmates went on for the remainder of class. Bell rang for 2nd period and I didn't hear anything else about it until I was home that afternoon.

A day I will never forget!

Thanks for sharing. It makes me want to cry. It makes me angry. It makes me proud of my country.

I was in the Marine Corps, stationed in Okinawa, Japan and in the the 31st Marine Expiditionary Unit- Special Operations Capable. That's a relatively small unit of Marine that come with a full compliment of artillery, tanks and air craft in support and is shipboard and able to travel anywhere in the world at a moment's notice. All told with supporting units and personnel, it's around 2,000 Marine, better known as a large can of Whoop Arse. Believe me, when we saw what happend, there were some definite feelings of agressive and desire to do exactly what we had trained to do. We nearly immediately started heading for the middle east. Only to be turned around days later as we wouldn't go after the bastages for about another year and a half. Training was different after that and took on a whole new meaning and tempo for sure. I eventually got my chance. I deployed to Iraq in the fall of '03.

Rest in peace my fellow countrymen.

I was teaching at Athens HS. I had a classroom full of 9th graders when another teacher told me to turn on the TV because a national emergency was happening. I turned on the TV and, like everyone one else was horrified to see the first tower burning. About 15 minutes later, we all watched as the 2nd plane hit. I knew then we were being attacked. I spent the rest of the day reassuring my students that they were safe and going to be OK while explaining the history of unrest in the middle east, the formation of modern Israel, and reasons why some people wanted to destroy America. I remember the intense feeling of patriotism that all Americans felt and the fury we wanted to unleash on the cowards who launched the attack.

Driving a work truck to a job heard about the first plane on the radio thought it was just some idiot pilot. Didn't find out about the second plane for a good while.

I was in my 4th year of teaching/coaching... I was teaching a Geography class at the high school when our principal sent a note around about the first plane, so I turned on the news in the classroom and we watched history unfold...very sad day... I will always remember!! Also sad to see what has happened to the unity this country felt in the aftermath of 9/11... RIP to those who lost their lives on this day and prayers out to their families! A big THANK YOU to our vets/police/firefighters/military for doing the job you do!

I was in Okinawa, Japan, staying up late eating pizza, when AFN came in to an emergency broadcast....needless to say it wasn't long before everyone was out of bed, in formation downstairs and ready to get some!

Coming back from History class in College - Sat down with a Corona and lime (post class ritual) and just stared for a long long time as the News broke in. Buddy woke up to about 20 texts from his Family, and we just sat and watched and listened to as much as we could.

Heard an interview from President Bush yesterday, and also remember flight 93. Heroes and God bless the responders and volunteers.

I'll never forget that night as I said goodnight prayers with my little 4 year old girl. We prayed for the people of New York and she asked why? Holding back my tears, I said they were hurt very bad today, baby. An understatement for sure. We have prayed for the people of New York and America many times since. Today, we say a special prayer for America as all of our lives were and continue to be affected by this terrible act of cowardice.

On I-35 between Hillsboro and Waco. Headed to tstc. Got to class and told the prof and he said if it wasn't ac or dc circuits, he didn't care. They shut down the school 30 minutes later and we watched at the rec hall
