UPDATE:
My grandfather gave me a Craftsman C3 drill yesterday. Did some digging and turns out TTI, who owns Ryobi, also owns CM and reportedly the two brands are very similar in quality. it looks like the tool quality is good but battery life is an issue (when is it not?). but i just got a free drill that will put me on a platform that is about the same cost as Ryobi and Porter Cable and has just about all the bells and whistles i would need. Im even trying to dig and see if the Ryobi batteries/ tools are cross compatible with Craftsman stuff. That would solidify it for me.
Does anyone have experience with recent Craftsman stuff?

At the house, well, if something doesn't work Tuesday night... I always have Wednesday night to go find a tool that works...

I can't speak for the PC cordless system, but I imagine they are pretty solid. I can speak about the Ryobi One+ system. I have several Ryobi cordless tools (10 to be exact), with half being over 10yrs old (blue) and use three of them almost daily. I thought they were just okay until about a year ago, when I changed to the Li-Ion batteries. The older Ni-Cad batteries were terrible! They didn't last long under moderate use, drained drown fairly quickly when not used, and flat out died within a few months. Since I have switched over to the newer Li-Ion batteries, I couldn't be happier. The tools themselves are fairly well made and have held up well under some moderate abuse. As has been mentioned in earlier posts, they are perfect for the weekend hobbyist and home owner. If I needed something for 8 hours a day, and 5 days a week, I would probably consider a different brand. Just my 2 cents.
