Dove Huntin Question

Is it legal to hunt with 2 shotguns next to you? I'm not tryin to get 3 extra shots in but where we are huntin there is a mix of high flyers and close up shots. I wanted to use a full choke in one gun for the high flyers and leave my modify in on the other gun for the closer up shots. So is legal or illegal?

I don't know either but sounds harder than it needs to be. I just use a full choke and kill close and far birds. You might mutilate some close ones but that just tenderizes them. No big deal.

I really don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that if you fire in front of a flock of high flying whitewings they will instantly drop down and give you a chance at your next two shots. Doesn't seem logical but it does work.

The best answer to your problem is an over/under shotgun with two different chokes in one gun.

I don't see how you would have that much time to pick up a different gun. That's why you get an over and under. I have a skeet 1 and skeet 2 in my OU and smoke the birds. I love it.

There are many times when flocks of whitewings fly higher in the morning when they are going to feed when your gun could never reach them. Same goes when heading back to the roost.

An O/U is out of the question right now can't afford another gun at the moment but that is good advice.

Yes, it is legal to have more than 1 shotgun with you while hunting doves.

I carry 2 sometimes now depending on where I'm hunting. Under 'normal' conditions, mainly use a .410, but have a 12 handy if most of the birds are too high.
