I was dove hunting over a small tank ("stock pond" for non west Texans) yesterday at the lease. I had shot a few dove and then a fork horn came in for a drink. I was sitting in some broomweed on the side of the dam, so he didn't notice me. A couple of dove flew by, but not wanting to give him a bad scare, I passed. Then the dove really started coming in, and I couldn't just sit there, so I dropped one that fell less than ten yards from the little buck. I expected him to head for the next county, but he just stood there. I killed two more dove before he finally ambled off into the brush and broomweed. I can just imagine the story he told his buddies--"I was getting a drink and there was this loud noise and birds started falling out of the sky...".
