pew, pew, pew!! I'm just sayin'... If it wasn't a migratory game bird hunt, there would be many, many more pews 'cause I would'nt have that stupid plug in my spaz-matic shoot-gun!

Yikes. At least if you hit the dove 1st shot you still have 2 to kill that thing.

The only guy I know well who has been bitten by a rattlesnake got bit over a dove. He reached down in a patch of prickly pear to pick up a downed bird and the snake struck - one fang in the base of his index finger, one fang in the base of his middle finger. I guess that snake did not appreciate someone trying to take his easy meal!

Went quail hunting around Hebronnville one time. The first bird I killed and went to pick up was laying 10" or so from a rattler. That proved to be prophetic as we killed 16 rattlers hunting all day Sat. and until 10:00 AM on Sun. Hard to concentrate on quail !

Had the same thing happen to me down around Coleman many years ago. Dove dropped on the other side of a big pear patch. By the time I found him he had a 3 ft rattler attached to him just like in that pic.
