    Another "tipping" thread

I have read several threads about tippin at sonic, and for good or bad service. Just wondering if ya'll tip when ordering to pick up and take home. I always feel bad if I don't, so I usually give them a couple of bucks. Do ya'll tip when picking up food from a restaurant?

The ONLY place I tip is a restaurant where a PERSON 1) takes my order (& gets it right), and 2) continues to fill my drink or otherwise check on me through my meal.

I always tip. Kids working rather then on the street. Older guy not on welfare and trying to make a living. No big deal, just what I do.

I almost always tip for good and friendly service....even if I'm picking up a to-go order.

I dropped a $100 on the tatted up waitress that gave excellent service at Olive Garden in Humble tonight. It was only a $50 tab, so I hope it made her night.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^this. A few months ago I brought this up with a sandwich place. They make your food, that's it. They have a place on the receipt to place a tip. I was confused. A majority said "NO" to tips, it's their job. No full service etc.

Sonic carhops get a buck (most of my orders there are less than $10), pizza guy gets $5 (I'm about 2 miles from the storefront), waitstaff that are ordinary get double the tax amount on the bill, friendly/energetic/hardworking waitstaff get double the tax plus $5 or $10 depending on how well they kept an eye on us.
I worked at Bennigans back in college for spending money, so I know who's playing at it, and who's trying to actually work hard for the money.

              I sometimes do.

I could show up and wait for my food to be made and take it home or I can place a phone call be told my food will be ready in x minutes and walk right in to pay and pick up.

              Convenience isn't free.

If you wanna tip, do it. If you don't wanna, don't.

I have never tipped when going inside and picking up food.

I dated a waitress at a decent steakhouse for....a while.

Ever since then I can spot a ****ty tipper on the green screen because they complain about the service at restaurants.

I tried to tip at the Cleveland DPS office when renewing my license.

                              FYI.....they don't accept tips there.
