    Rage! Is the Honeymoon over?

Well it seems like a few folks had some doubts if their Rage broadheads performed up to snuff this weekend.

I will admit, I have some doubts about keeping them in my quiver.

I've harvested 2 animals with 2 shots with Rage 2 blade. Both fell within 100 yards of impact.

I must say I favor them due to ease of transfering from field points to broad heads. Seems there is little adjustment needed with your sight making the transition.

But with the couple experiences I've read this weekend, I will admit I'm having some doubts on sticking with them.

It's all about a sharp broadhead and being confident in the broadhead you are shooting...............I prefer slick tricks, but I have been tossing around the idea of shooting the three blade rage...............

        Good question.

When I read the threads about missing blades after kill inspection, I immediately thought of something.

Maybe Rage started manufacturing different materials in their broadheads from last year to this year.

So I went to my gear and checked. I have some Rage 2 blades left over from last year and compared them to the new ones I purchased this year.

I can't see any difference other than the impact point (very tip of broad head) is different. Looks like a different edge put on point.

Also, when I read the posts on screw vs. pin that are holding blades in place, I checked that as well. All my Rage look to have the screw in this situation.

        But...

My practice Rage did have a difference. 1 had a pin and the other two had the screw.

I wonder if the screw vs. the pin may be causing the new found problems?

I'm not going to let it change my mind. Had nothing but good luck with the 2 blade. Awesome results. The 3 blade, on the other hand, will no longer be on my arrows. I had a bad experience with them last year. I'm blaming it on too many blades having to move around on each other when opening up. I do inspect my 2 blades much more now since the heads up on the problem.

Again, I just wonder if this years production is different than last?

I shoot the 3 blade version and will continue to do so. I really think my wife just got a bad batch without anything. There is a hole in it where something should be but nothing is there. I am calling rage today.

I bought mine last year and didn't shoot them. I used them Saturday and it left an exit hole I could stick my fist in. I had a marginal hit and I feel that the Rage 2 Blade was the difference in recovering the deer.

I'm one of the guys who had a bad time with the Rage heads. Still, I don't think I would switch from them in your position. They seem to work for you, why mess with it?

Confidence in your gear is a HUGE factor.

I put two Rage Three blades into a doe opening weekend, the first was a spine shot, bent a blade but put the deer down. The finishing shot broke a rib upon exit and now the blades won't deploy properly although I can't see any signs of damage to the broadhead. Now I need to buy new broadheads and I'm on the fence as to whether I should stick with Rage or try out some Slick Tricks. As TXJon said, it's all about confidence in your gear, and right now mine is somewhat shaken.

Personally, any second shot I get with ANY mech is considered a bonus. I don't change blades and if the head is sharp enough after a deer kill, I usually use it on pigs until it won't shoot any longer. If anyone is expecting shot after shot with a Rage, then it's probably best to shoot a fixed. The blades are much easier to change.

Put in a call to Rage this morning and I guess they must be busy because I left a message and no one has called me back
