Is this a good idea?

So I have a garage that is filled with stuff that I don't need, I have paths in order for me to move around. Basically I need to get rid of lots of things there. I have this same problem with a storage unit that I have been paying on for 6 years. Many of the things that I have in the garage or storage unit are definitely not trash.

Here is the idea. I need to clear this stuff out, have a garage sell. What if I do this and donate all proceeds to the family of the duputy that just was gunned down here in Houston?

Would there be anyone else that would be interested in doing this? Or would it be a good idea to do some kind of a swap meet? The things I have definitely have value but I will probably not use it so the value would be better used with the family of that deputy
