    F250 Transmission question

My '01 F250 does use up any fluid normally, but if I use 4x4 it goes through the fluid.
Any ideas? I hope it's a simple and cheap fix.

      I don't know? Don't see any leaks, that's what's really confusing

Here is an idea. the older GM auto trans used a vacuum modulator to tell the trans to shift, along with the internal governor. Now, I am not sure on the 2001 Fords, but It too may have a vacuum actuator for the transfer case to go into 4x4 mode. These have a diaphragm that fail, so when the vacuum is added..it sucks the fluid up and into the intake, and gets burned. Will not show a leak, and the smoke is barley visible if seem from behind.

No vacuum modulator on a 4R100 trans.

I was gonna guess that maybe the vent tube was clogged on the transfer case or transmission. There is a seal between the two units and could be leaking into transfer case adaptor????????

I haven't fixed it yet, really haven't had time to check on it. I really only use 4wd on PINS, and now I'm shifting to hunting.
I'm hoping to figure it soon though.
