Now my go to tip for a pizza dude is usually 5$, unless they are ridiculously late. However I will say that when i get charged a 4$ delivery charge on top of my pizza price. I stop hesitate a little bit to fork over that Lincoln. Now i know that a lot of times those delivery guys dont see that delivery fee. Guess it just nags at this cheap SOB every now and then

Having driven for several years. The delivery fee USE to go toward driver mileage, but not anymore.
When I quit if we weren't tipped enough for minimum wage the company had to pay us up to minimum, hence the delivery charge.
There was also a big push on slow night to send drivers home early.
If an IRS agent/enforcer is reading I ALWAYS REPORTED all of my tips when I worked for the company 11 years ago.
Assuming no IRS enforcers are here, it is better to tip cash instead of credit card since credit card tip has to be reported by company to IRS as driver income. Cash tips are reported by the driver to the IRS as income on the honor system. Sometimes cash tips are lost, oops. Not that I ever lost any or failed to report ALL tips.

The fee does not go to the driver. The driver is out trying to pay his bills, he has to buy his own gas. Tips are deserved. They have no control over where they are sent, poor management will have a guy driving across town from one run to the next. I tip the drivers well. They saved me from having to go get the pizza, saved my time, my gas, and keeps me out of the crazy traffic. No one wants to deliver pizza because they want to, they do it because they need extra income or can't find a real job and its their last hope. ...My two cents..
