A question about the vanilla craze.

So, for you fellas that use vanilla, did you have to get your deer used to it by spraying your corn with it so they would acquire a taste or are they naturally attracted to it? In my experience they are spooked by any scent they are not familiar with. There aren't any vanilla fields in Young county.

    Waste of time and money.

I put it on hand corn in the summer when hog hunting. Then keep using it during deer season. Doesn't seem to do much though. I like it as a cover scent.

So there's my question: you think it works for you as a cover, even though it's not a familiar smell?

I have been trying it this year. I throw corn on the ground and spray the corn and I also spray bushes and small trees where my corn is.

Nope, just trying to see what everyone thinks. Anyone else wanna chime in?

I'm thinking I'll try that too, keep meaning to take a spray bottle with me.

I've never tried it but the theory behind it makes sense. If you hunt over corn, and spray it every time you put it out, I'd assume over time it could be used as a cover scent.

That's if they're not spooked by it in the first place. I have zero experience with it, and no plans to start so I really don't know. Just seems like a great idea if it works.

I don't know if it works. I don't know if anything works. I do know that spraying vanilla is A LOT more cheaper than buying all of the high priced (20lbs for $20.00) that I tried last year and that did NOT work. I am also going to try mixing a little apple corn with my regular corn this year.
