    oak decline question

we have several trees that are showing signs of what I believe to be oak decline. most are not near the house, but one is in our back yard. It is one of three large oaks in the back yard, and I don't want it to spread to the others. I saw the effects of oak decline on my parents property years ago. My dad spent a lot of money trying to save his trees with no success. does anyone know of any treatment options, or would getting rid of the one tree be my best bet?

      tuned in.

I have heard of several different ways to try and save them but none seem to work to well. from trenching to spraying but once it starts its near impossible to stop I have seen trees come back that looked dead though.

My post oaks are already turning yellow and dropping leaves this year. Very strange

I've lost 100's of live oaks on my place and from what I've read, there's not much hope. I believe in 20years or so, the live oaks in the hill country will be wiped out. It's too the point that I'm even letting some cedar grow back

We have it all over Kendall county. I have lost 5 big red oaks in the last 3 years around my house. I have not found any way to stop it.

the only potentially treatable causes turned out to only help the treatment companies. there are likely several factors working against the oaks. so sad to see the results.

Possibly visit Howard Garret, The Dirt Doctor.
He has recomendations, one of which is sick tree treatment.

I noticed a couple post oaks up here already beginning to drop leave last week. It hasn't been really dry or even that hot up here this summer. Since the drought we had in 2012, we have lost a good chunk of mature red oaks to disease. I have noticed a bunch of new saplings though, so I guess it's all part of the cycle.

Edit: initially said red oaks that were dropping early, but thought about it and they're post oaks. Don't really care to lose the post oaks up here, they're not very desirable for us

I've lost the majority of my big Post Oaks. Hundreds.

The drought stressed them out and the beetles did the rest.
