If you house is carpeted, and the carpet is old, then that may the source of increased dust in the last few years.

Over the last 10 years, I have replace/removed the carpet in our 30 year old house, and the reduction in dust was tremendous.

Nope...only carpet in the upstairs bedrooms and it's fairly new. All floors downstairs where we notice it the most is hardwood or tile.

It was mentioned that I may have leakage around the air registers in the ceiling, causing them to suck in stuff from the attack, which after doing a little googling seems to be a common issue. I am going to look into that later today.

Question for you guys. I was thinking of replacing my hard ducts due to how dirty they are, especially with mildew and such. They are 40+ years old. I have had multiple people tell me not to, just get them cleaned.

I did do a complete re insulation and seal job on them about 10 years ago.

Big waste of money. I inspect homes every day in Austin. On average about 60% of homes have leaky ducts. They should be 10 percent or less. Most are over 30%. THAT is where dust is coming from if it is perhaps your ducts that are causing this. It is most likely your homes envelope that leaks and brings in the dust though. Every time your ac cycles the return air creates a pressures that will pull outside air in from every leakage point of your home. Have your ducts inspected by someone who specializes in home weatherization. They can run a duct blaster test to get exact leakage numbers of your duct system. Do not waste your money on cleaning. I see this far too often and the ducts are shredded from it causing you to have to spend thousands to replace...

Having them sealed and re insulated was correct. Only reason I would replace metal ducts are if they are undersized and you are having air flow issues through out the home.

Duct cleaning when performed by a professional company with quality equipment is well worth the money.
