    Pre hunt bow routine?

What is your routine with your bow? I will be bow hunting for the first time this year. I get out and practice about every other day. Seems I always need about 5-10 shots to tune in. After that, I feel pretty comfortable. Do you take several practice shots before you head to the stand? What is your routine? Any other tips are appreciated.
    Thanks

When i get in the stand i shoot one arrow at something in my range.
Typically a cactus or small cedar.
In camp i kill time by cactus shooting

I always shoot when I get to the lease, to make sure nothing's happened. Then I will usually shoot before the afternoon hunt. Good luck this year. Where are you hunting?

Load ice chest with beer/ice, charge phone and video camera, shoot bow one time, drink cold beer on the way to the stand.

I get scent free (soap, deo and towels). Then I get dressed and shoot 2-3 practice shots. Then it's game on.

I try to take 1 shot before I go out. Sort of helps with the confidence that I know everything is "on". It doesn't always happen, but I won't normally hunt until I have shot at least 1 arrow since I arrived at deer camp.

If you feel like you need to take 5-10 shots before you go hunt, I think that is fine. Do whatever makes you feel confident.

            Best of luck this year!

I practice throughout the day. After every hunt, I unscrew all my BHs and put my arrows in the quiver. Then during the day I'll shoot those same five arrows. About 30 minutes before heading to the stand, I screw in the BHs and put the quiver back on my bow. Kind of a little time to get mentally ready to use the BHs and envision the shot while I stare at an arrow.

I do like to play "stranglehold" by Uncle Ted Nugent on the way out if I'm needing some killer motivation.

If it takes you multiple shots to shoot good you need to do this ^

You don't get multiple shots when your hunting.. One shot don't screw up!!

One shot when I get to the lease. Once on stand I draw back and imagine the shot in several lanes. Let down slowly and quietly and I'm ready.

It's important to know how you will shoot and that your equipment is acting as it should, BUT...... Don't let that get in the way of the experience. Shoot once, find and hit your mark, then go hunting. Enjoy the animals you are watching, and if the opportunity arises then take a good shot that you are confident with. Some people will say you need to practice often, shoot as much as you can, and so on. It's really an individual's preference, I would say practice all you want but before you hunt shoot just one arrow. That's most likely all the chance you will have. Make that shot count and you are in business.

I shoot up to 10 or so arrows a day for a couple of weeks before season for a little conditioning. But usually only draw on an animal when I am in the stand or at the lease. Like riding a bike!

I shoot all week before I leave (and a lot of the summer when I can)....stretch my arms, shoulders, neck and back at the cabin before I get in the truck to go hunt....walk 400-600 yards to the blind which loosens me up even more.....take one practice draw once I get in the stand and wait for a customer to come by.

If it takes you a couple of shots to get dialed in you better keep on practicing because you gotta be dialed in on the first shot. Get your muscle memory built up so everything is natural and repetitive. You still have 30+ days so get after it.

I never shoot before I hunt. I tell myself 'Be the arrow' several times in my head while walking to the blind....... Then I paint senderos.

When I go hunting, I don' go practice. You have had all year to practice. One way to prepare for hunting is practicing with 1 shot. When you start practicing, think that that first shot is at a trophy and make that shot important as if you were shooting at an animal. then you can adjust your sights if needed and sling a few
