    High fencing a place

I have had a question about high fence places and I thought you guys would be the experts. If you are going to put up a high game fence, do you have to get rid of all the deer on your place first? My thinking is that since the deer are property of the state if you high fence the deer in are you not stealing those resources from the state?

Not trying to start a Hf/LF argument just something I just thought about

If you do fence any deer in.....rest assured, you will be harassed by the LF crowd for stealing their resources. However, those deer are yours to manage as you see fit.

I would consider your goals for the property first. Lots of things to consider which may sway you to push all deer out before completing the fence. But, it's very dependent on your long term goals.

If I had land to high fence. I would just fence it up. You can do some good management then.

How many acres? You need to think about population size and gene pool. If you are gonna stock WT then no issue. If you are going to stock exotics and you only fenced in a few deer you might have some "special" deer.

You don't have to run the deer off your place. The state still owns any deer you put on it anyway.

To clarify I/we have no intention to HF our place, it was just a thought I had. The family has 500 acres outside Jonesborro in Hamilton co that in reality we don't hunt enough.
