    Kydex Holster Question

I need something to do when I get home from work so I am looking into making kydex holsters. For the experts out there I have a question. I saw a guy on YouTube using a Food Saver Vacuum Sealer for the press. Any thoughts on this?

    Thanks for the input.

I have one I made out of some plywood scraps, Black spongy foam from a duct wrap, and an old USGI foam sleeping mat..

    Made a holster for my G17 w/light..

Having not seen it this way I'm assuming he heated the kydex then put gun and kydex in sealer and went after it?

Yea, I saw it on YouTube. I figured it would work, my vacuum sealer would put a lot of pressure on the kydex. Im going to try it. Worst thing that could happen is it not work and I will be out about $5?

Let me know. I've wanted to mess with it but afraid of starting yet another hobby. I'm wanting to make a couple mag pouches for my work truck and some other stuff

Might check with Wildman (Danny) and see how he did his kydex. Don't think he's making holsters any more (which is a shame) and might give pointers or what to stay away from...

I do it on mine, they are not all kydex they are leather backed. see picture. I use a small hard back book to make the mounting sufface inline with the oppisite side of firearm. this was my first there is 100% better definition now, I use a pair of gloves and help the molding while in the vacuume packer

Ok elrod, youre going to cost me money. Did some research via university of youtube. Did you look at the boxes using pegboard? I've got everything to make one at home already. I'm just not sure our vacuum sealer will get the definition and retention I want.

Just did a glock last night the definition is awesome I will take a pic when I get home. don't base it on the one I posted ROOKIE job! it works great. The peg board is a great way to go also. Where I hit a bump is the thin rubber seal for the top, all the peg board holes have to be covered.

What Im referring to prolly wont work for that, however may work for packaging of work related stuff

On another note I should have gone in on your order

                          As promised

Still needs trimming but this is straight out of the sealer

That has good definition. Thanks for sharing. You don't have any problem with too much retention in the trigger guard area?
