Customized utility trailers, what am I missing?

Having 2 customized maxey utility trailers built. Wanting to make sure I'm not missing any "extras" to add on.

1st one 20' x 83" tandem axle with electric brake, square top tubing, mesh inside, rear spring assisted gate with built in ramps, u bolts welded on front and sides for tie downs, spare tire, toolbox in front between front of trailer and coupler, diamond plate fenders, LED lights

2nd one is 14' x 83", single axle, square top tubing, mesh inside, standard spring assisted rear gate, u bolts welded on front and sides for tie downs, spare tire, toolbox, diamond plate fenders, LED lights.

Debating on going with tube top vs square? What else, what other goodies am I missing?

Square looks better but round is more practical with straps rubbing on it or tightening them while against the top rail. The are also more forgiving if hit as round has more spring than square. I would definately get the best Jack available and a bulldog coupler.

If I knew you were wanting a utility trailer, I'd have sold you mine and made you a pretty good deal on it. Might not have been as good as the deal I gave your brother on that 4 wheeler...but it I'd give you the Gomez discount

I've only had square top trailer. Never tube top. Never had an issue strapping stuff down?

Haha cookie. What else you got for sale? Let's make a deal

The only thing I regret with my maxey 20' is I wish I would've had flat bar ran down both sides welded to the stake pockets so I would have unlimited tie down locations instead of the angle under the square tube every 2-3' or so

folding front jack, 2 on the rear to stabilize....box cages around the tail lights. in floor tie downs. Break away for the trailer brakes

I have been planning to add these rub rails to my Maxey, too

Interesting. Never thought of that. Is this what your talking about? Wonder if I should even add the strap tie ons welded to the top of the rail if I do something like that?

Any way you could snap a picture of your rear jacks for me?

No way I would buy a 14ft trailer with one axle.

I hate 12ft trailers with 1 axle. And I have one with and one without.

Agree with the cages around the lights.

The rest is not really necessary. The rear jack will just get tore up. Only really necessary on cookers

Make all the uprights out of sq.tube and have them open at the top. That way you can put cross bars in them and set stuff on them that you can load onto and take off with a fork lift. It's hard to impossible to load and unload over those rails with out them.

Have a piece of angle bolted across the front to hold the boards down. If you ever need to change a board, you won't have to torch off the flat strap that all trailer manufacturers weld on to hold the boards.

Absolutely have tie downs inside the mesh at floor level. Inevitably you will need to strap down something shorter, where going over the top rail will not give enough down force.

A 4 wheeler for example. Going over the rail will result in nearly 0 down force. With that mesh you won't be able to go under the rail either.

Get the larger tires/wheels and make sure 10 ply. Lots of trailers put small cheap 14" tires on them.
