    Feral hog average weight? 200+

So back when the hogs were scarce in Nolan Co. I took my girlfriend deer hunting and I ended up killing a boar that went 197 field dressed. This was approximately 2001.

I know the hogzilla stories etc, but it seems to have been hard for me to get on a pig greater than 200lbs since then.

Just wondering how everybody's been averaging out on these guys. I'd really like to kill one with a bow that breaks 200lbs.

I'd say the average on properties I've hunted is around 100 lbs. we've killed some around 250-300 but not many.

*these are live weights (not dressed)

i have seen all sizes and large numbers....30, 50, 100, 150, 250 and up. Houston county. When you dont want them there, they show up. And when you wanna see one then they dont show up.

It's like fishing stories. It's really hard to get one with a bow over 200 lbs. Good luck

And have a good scale because it's really easy to over guess.

The average weight for me would be somewhere around 100lbs. The biggest I ever killed was 217lbs. I was certain he was 300+.

I have killed hundreds of hogs. I have killed one over 300.
90% of them never break 200.

Average is about 150. Hogs can be deceiving in the weight department. I shot one that I swore would be 290 and he ended up being about 250.

The ones I kill when I have my scale are all 130-160. I kill the really big one when I forgot my scales.

They are "wild hogs" not pen feed slop hogs. It takes a special hog and circumstances to go over 250lbs. Most I have killed are 75 to 120lbs. Now there are so many I would imagine the food sources are even more taxed between them and other wildlife.
If I remember right from ag class hogs can convert food into weight very fast and at a high percentage. So if they get good feed they can put weight on fast.

200#+ boars are a lot like big mature bucks to me. They're old and smart and get that way by not getting shot or caught. They travel alone, into the wind and mostly at night. One will slip up every now and then but it's just tough to get them in bow range. I see a lot more big bucks killed than big boars, even though cameras and hunting with dogs prove there are lots of them around.

A big tusker might as well be a pope and young!

Biggest i've killed was 275 lbs. Most though were around 75-135. Killed a 230 pound hog last year. Most of the hogs I see are 60-150 range.

I've killed 24 pigs with my bow that were recovered and only 2 of them broke 200 lbs.

                              I've got a 202 and a 221 so far.

                              Keep after em and KAP.
