It's getting closer! The "official" countdown

Yes I know the Official Countdown actually starts as soon as the season ends, BUT.....

What all do you have left to do?

We started our spin feeders a while back, so, we just have to keep those full. I am contemplating a few DIY protein tubes to hang, but I am a little hesitant with the amount they will be able to hold and having to fill them all the time.

I keep reading up on food plots, but it just so dry where we are in the Hill Country. Has any one been successful with any thing recently near Blanco or Stonewall?

2013 and 2014 I was on a lease in that area (13 miles down 1623) that had oats planted that the deer absolutely hammered.

Going this weekend to Edwards county to brush in all the bow blinds.

It's getting closer for sure. Spent last weekend doing a little scouting. Got most of the feeders topped off and batteries changed out. Hung up a couple of new cameras. Got one of my lock ons put up.
Still got to get my fall plots planted here in a few weeks, and do a little more recon of some potential trails! looking hopeful!

We need a ticker at the top of green screen.
As for what I have left, I'm 90% there screw in a couple of accessory hooks and a bow holder.

Got an app on my phone running the countdown to 5am on the 3rd.

As far as what do I have left to do?? Way too much. Food plot work will begin in a couple weeks. Got a new gun blind to set. Building a platform for one of my popups, got to finish and set that. Have three new locations that all new bow blinds hung or set. Plus gotta keep the corn slingin and the cameras takin pictures. Need more days off between now and then....

Need to take some limbs down on my climbing spots, one of my feeder motors is jammed up, and need to finish sighting in my new single pin and continue to practice but other than that I am ready and am looking forward to my first bow season.

New lease, loooong way to go to get ready. Only one feeder set up and running so far - going to build a pen around it and set my popup platform there this weekend. We are going to set up two more feeders but still haven't decided exactly where - it is quite thick and there are no roads, so finding/creating accesible spots has been a challenge.

I still need to go out and shred lanes and get feeders going. I always start feeding late.

That's some good info! Might have to take some vacation days to get some work in

Nothing really to do. Fortunate to be on the same lease for the past 12 years and have learned to have all new stands/changes etc done by spring Turkey season. It is so much more enjoyable working February and March as opposed to July/August!!! Yes I still go out in July and August but just to top off feeders and swap out chips!

Not even bothering to count down to the 3rd since I'll be at work for the first two weeks of bow season. blah

I've met some new friends at the poker table that I cant wait to take hunting this year. I like to sit back and watch them hunt. I get more out of that that you can imagine. My son is turning 5 in October so he's gonna get a lot more involved this year too. Crap, ya got me all stirred up again. IM READY!!!!

I can't even get excited to hunt until temps are in the 60's. October is for redfishing. I do have feeders out and shoot a few arrows with the kids but not mad enough at any deer to sit in 90 degree weather
