    Barnhouse A/C Help

I'm in the proccess of buileing a Barn House. I'm getting to the a/c part. What are your thoughts of Hard Duct vs the normal Flex Duct. My only worry is that over time Critters (shouldn't) might get in a tear it up. What did yall do?

    Thanks

I hate hard duct. It's better by a mile though. Or it used to be. If it was going to be something I could see, without a doubt it would be hard pipe. It looks better. If you don't have the sheetrock in the ceiling, it's really not that big a pain to deal with. You could always run the main trunks in hard pipe and tie in with flex.

Several on here have mentioned a split or multi zone system.

      Mini units in each room.

I do not think there are ducts involved with that.

I built a hard duct manifold from one end of my attic to the other end and ran flex ducts off of it into my rooms. Started large at the a/c and reduced size in step downs at 2 places I believe. It works great for us, the master suite is at the far end from the unit and it is as cold there as it is in the rooms at the unit.

Will ducts be exposed in the conditioned space or above an ceiling in a attic type set up?
