Headed to Galveston!!! Need some help

Headed down to the sea wall for the weekend with the gf and hoping the green screen can offer some help. Looking for some advice on maybe a few spots to take her out wade fishing and set out a few surf rods while we lay on the beach. And if anyone has some resturant/bar reccomendations that would be great. We are staying in a hotel on the seawall saturday night but staying on the beach tonight. So we will fish anywhere between rollover on bolivar or San louis pass.

    Thanks!

If you like Cajun Seafood, then try "The Cajun Greek" at the corner of 61st and Ave. R. If mudbugs are still in season, they have a great crawfish platter!

San Luis Pass, about 17 miles south of the end of the seawall is my favorite place to fish. You can fish the surf or the channel. It helps to have 4wd so that you can move freely under the bridge, but if not, you can get to the beach with 2wd. The Rusty Hook Bait shop is 3-4 miles south of Jamaica Beach en route to San Luis Pass.

      My $0.02

I haven't been to San louis pass in years. Just curious on how the fishing is and how the trails are getting around on the bay side. And if it's possible to get out to the island.

check the tide charts before you go to San Louis they can get pretty strong, i always had success on the north side of the toll bridge throwing Texas rigs

Last time I was there was last winter. It's always different. Being summer, with the moisture content of the sand being lower the chances are the sand will be softer. I have always been able to get to both sides. Admittedly, even with 4wd, I scout my route when I now its dry. If you have 4wd, the only thing I am really careful with is the mud on the bay side. Seen way too many guys plow into it only to have to be winched out.

Let me know how it is, I am planning a trip down in Sept.

One of the valets at our hotel recommended the Cajun Greek to someone the other day. Shrimp and stuff is a pretty decent place

                        Update:

First off thanks to everyone that offered advice and help. I appreciate it. All went great and we had a blast.

We fished half the night at San louis pass and the other half on jamaica beach Friday. No takers, no fish. We waded the surf saturday with it being very flat and green water 200 yards out. I set a pole up for her to use live shrimp on a popping cork. I had to cast since it's a bait cast and baited the hook to start off. She caught several trash fish but had alot of fun watching the cork go under only to reel and set the hook and nothing be there. She got her first trout before we ran out of bait and I hooked up on a trout with a gulp shrimp on a jig.

We moved down to San louis pass to wade and took live croaker. Has alot of fun and caught several more short trout there too. She caught a barely keeper and I pulled the hook on one over 20 inches and landed one that was 22. She caught a rat red as well and was baiting her own hook by the end of the day. We then went to the hotel to change and ate at giardos. Which by the way u would never reccomend to anyone. It was horrible for the price we paid. But they had great dirty martinis. Lol

We finished the trip spending sunday afternoon drinking cold ones and laying in the sand with a couple rods in the surf. I let her reel in one that had a gaftop on it. From there we went to the black peal and had 4 dozen oysters and split a fried platter. Then to pleasure pier for some corny games and hang out before we headed home.

I believe I have found a keeper. She LOVES fishing and was the one saying one just one more fish before we leave! Lol. She can't wait to go back to do it again and said hunting season can't get here fast enough so she can experience that too!

Thanks again for the advice and look forward to the next adventure.
