Port Mansfield Offshore GoPro video (with a sailfish)

Took a trip down south to Port Mansfield and put together another GoPro video. We went out deep on Saturday and trolled pretty much all day. Ended up catching a of couple wahoo, a small mahi, landed a sailfish and had a marlin on but it broke off. Sunday we just stayed in close in state waters for some snapper fishing as we had to make the long drive home to Houston that afternoon. The weather was great both days with less than 2 foot seas and it was less than that most of the time.

Excellent conditions! Might have been a hair better on Saturday with a bit of chop on top. Looks like the bite was better with a bit of cloud cover?

Can you post the YouTube link? The embedded videos never work on my phone

It was really pretty cloudy most of the day but the fishing was definitely better in the morning. We started trolling at 7:30 and caught both wahoo, the mahi and hooked the marlin before 9:30. The sail was caught about 11:45. We had some more knock downs later in the day but we didn't see what they were.

How far out are you running to troll for pelagics? I'm thinking of taking my rig down there instead of Venice next time.

Sweet video frank. I hope I can be one of your "actors" one day. I can battle those seas.

I can give you some good coordinates for pelagics. Let me know when you're ready to go.

It's my brother's boat and it is a 23T Contender.

We started trolling this trip at around 45 miles in 300' of water and trolled out to about 60 miles and 1500' of water.

I would imagine you could catch them in closer but would think you would need to be in at least 200' of water for most of them which would be about 30 miles depending on your heading from the jetty.

The snapper down there are a big time bonus (to us anyway) because you can catch them year round in state waters with a limit of 4. That Sunday we caught them a mile from the beach in less than 40' of water.
