night time hog hunting bow light

Does anyone have any info on an affordable hunting light for your bow for hunting pigs at night time. I was thinking that the HAWGLITE was around $50, but the only light I saw on their website was $120. Do they still make the older models that were not so expensive? I need one for a chirstmas gift

Cheaper than cheap is to buy a mini mag light, and they make an adapter to screw into your stabilizer. Mine works good...

i just bought one at Archery Country in Austin for $115, it is great. this is the web site for them and they have them for $100. One of the owners was in Archery country when i bought it and I told them i should just go on their sight and buy if for $100.

I would have no idea how to make a finger button attachment to turn it on with once you came to full draw. Looking for a total product, not something I have to build myself. Thanks for the info though, if I just have to I may check into that idea

Cabela's in FTW may still carry the old model or davids in Weatherford had them a couple of months ago. Ebay has had them also.

i built a device that holds my surefire and pressure switch. surefire is a great light but is not as bright as the tactical device light. If you want to build your own, check out the DYI section. Several threads.

There isn't an light available that has the capabilities of the Marauder coming from HawgLite in the next few weeks. We offer three different LED heads, one green, one red and one bright white. The Marauder also comes with a standard tailcap switch that lets you use the Marauder as a standard flashlight. Compare to a Surefire that costs more for just a flashlight.

yeah Kelly it looks like the Marauder is the Cadillac of night time bow hunting lights, unfortunately I am not looking for a Cadillac this go round. do you have any of the older lights that are still new around? weren't they around fifty bucks or am i dreaming that up

they discontinued it. From what I heard, it was a problem with the lamp manufacture.

Codie, we haven't had any of the originals for several months now, AggieBall is correct, the lamp was discontinued. You're right, they were $50. When you get ready for that Caddy, we'll be here for ya!

I just picked up a Hog Light.... best one I have used. But on the pricey side. If you are looking low end look at the original Hawg lite.

take off your peep, put on a kisser button, and put a tru-glo tridium pin in your site. the only light you need is the moon. that and low light situations are no sweat when you dont have to look through a peep. just sayin. works great. i was always looking for a light and whatnot and my buddy nick(horitexan) and rusty(oak sniper) kept trying to get me to do this. finally did and man, they where so right. makes shooting sooo much easier at night and low light times.

Thanks for the kind words Lee! You're absolutely right about a light being unnecessary if there's a good moon. You have to be able to shoot without a peep, though, and a tritium pin is absolutley necessary.

If you're looking for a less expensive option, check out the "Bowlight" from Tactical Devices, Inc. in Austin. Archery Country in Autin sells them and has for years. it's still not cheap, but it's less than Hawglite's new light and it looks EXACTLY like it. The interesting thing, as I've posted before, is that Tactical devices has been selling this same light for YEARS. It seems Hawglite found one and decided to copy it and sell it for more money, LOL!

If that one is still too much, just start hunting hogs in the moonlight the way we do! I think it's a lot more fun, challenging and rewarding than using a light anyway!

                            Good luck!

I have used every light out there..
and I will put any of my pics and numbers against any light out there. This may be my choice but the proof is in the pudding..Hawglite old is great the new marauder is by far better than the any other light I have shot with. Now I will add I tried the new Marauder for 3 weeks the test model I didnt want to send it back. The full moon stuff and is a frigain joke, I will compare many of my hogs to anyone elses and I will win. Full moon is great and if you are after a true trophy the Marauder will do it. I have shot lots of hogs yes but I want the big one. I want a hog bigger than yours! I do use a texasboars feederlight as well and have shot alot off of it but it seems at times the big hogs will not come to the feeder if other hogs are there. The Hawglite has given me oppurtunties that other lights dont offer.Between Howie and I ,we have shot over 1000 hogs with the origanal plus or minus a few.
Guys /gals you can get what best fits your needs and budget but if you hunt hogs like I do why waste your time with others.
Now on the full moon and more rewarding,,I have been after a big guy for 3 years now I hunt every moon and I have trees so a full moon dont give me light enough to get the needed light things posted like this to me just tick me off. It depends on the area and situation on whether the moon will work for you.
