    A/c ?

I noticed my compressor was running a little louder. I could hear it making a louder noise from my bathroom. Went outside and it was running louder than normal but while I was outside it went back to normal operating sound. The air from the vent doesn't feel that cool

When was the last time you washed the outside coils out?

And was your fan running? If not the bushings are locked on the fan. And it's not cooling the unit.
Don't buy a new fan just yet. Take it apart and grease the bushings. That fan I'll still work fine.

I did wash the coils about 1&1/2 month ago. My wife heard it last night operating louder than normal. I heard it earlier for first time.

Sounds like it's on its last leg. Loud noisy compressors usually are from no oil inside them. How old of a system is it? What brand unit? Scroll compressor?

Fan is turning but I did notice no condensation on the insulated line that you normally would see it sweating or condensate on it. Possibly low refrigerant or leak? Would that make the compressor run differently to make louder noise?

My compressor went out this afternoon. This is a 2013 Trane unit.

I turned the outside unit off, removed the fan, and washed it from the inside out. When I turned it back on and the compressor ran for almost a minute and kicked off. I'll be getting a new compressor or complete unit tomorrow, depending on the price difference.

I'll be sleeping on the couch tonight.

My upstairs unit went out today (outside compressor I think). Unit was blowing hot air through the vents, but the outside unit was not running.

                      90 degrees upstairs.

A/C guy couldn't come out until Wednesday.

                      2007 Trane Unit (Xr13 I believe)

Your compressor is under warranty if it's a 2013

Agree with this also. Could run another hour, might run another year.
