I see some people replace every year or two. At the price to get this done that adds up pretty quick. So what are some your longer times on a string and what are your secrets.... Besides just not shooting?

The threads I've been reading and guys that replace theirs once every year or two make me wonder if I'm pushing my luck or if they shoot exponentially more than I do.

How often can depend on how much you shoot. Some one like me that 20 to 30 arrows per day during 3D season with a tournament bow will need a new string every 2 to 3 years.
My hunting bow will see heavy use before season but decrease as the season wanes.
I always wax after a practice session until a tournament, I won't do anything but shoot till the tournament is over.
When I change strings, I never change everything at the same time. I may change the string and shoot it till it settles and becomes as consistent as the last string, maybe 300 hundred arrows. then I change cables. It seems to work even better on solo cams.

Time doesn't really matter, it the number of shots through it.
My target bows, I put 400- 700 shots a week through them. In a year's time, that much shock and vibration will result in fibers breaking down. So I change them out once a year.
My hunting bow I only put maybe 100 shots a year through it, the string and cables will last years.
