    Axis size judging?

    I am fixing to go on a hunt that I will have a shot at some nice axis. I need some ideas on how to judge the size of them.

    Can you give me some tips.

    Black Buck and Fallow tips also.?

    Can shoot whatever I want but wanting mainly Axis.

      I've read that if their head is down eating and the antlers tips are higher than their back, 30" or better.

      This one was in fact 32"

      This one - 35"

          Axis age and score can be found by counting the number of spots and placing into a simple formula. Let's use "x" as the number of spots, "y" for the number of spikes, and "z" for the color of the coat. If the coat is more red, z=2 brown z=6. Then it is simply a mathematical relation of spikes, spots, and the color. The formula is as follows....

          X= {(1/y)*14-((z/y)*x)+(7(yz))}*.56655

          In other words, I have no clue

              I've always heard what kgrutz said. With his head down if over his back he's 30".
              For blackbuck the darker the more mature but as far as length I think you try and estimate using the ear as a measurement.
