I think you're gonna find a lot of different answers, probably followed by some kind of competition between two or more folks that believe their way is the only way. When it is all said and done, you will see that it all boils down to the comfort level of the shooter.
To take a shot at a deer with your bow?
30, 40, 50, over 50 yards??
That all depends on each individual shooter. Out west I have killed several deer over 50 yards. In Texas I've yet to take a shot at a deer over 30 yards if I remember correctly.
30 yards would be max for me, comfortably. Not that I have an issue shooting past 30 yards at a target, but a lot can happen to an arrow between your string and the target. Never the less the animal moving.
Anything over the limit you are able to actually hit the animal in a manner that it causes it to bleed to death is probably too far...unless the plan is to wound it so you can stab it with a knife in which case the answer is just PAST the limit where you are able to actually hit the animal in a manner that it causes it to bleed to death but not past the limit where you are able to staple it to the ground..which would be just After limit to bleed to death, and slightly after the limit to wound, and just after shooting a tad too low.
unless you use a rage in which case the answer is 5 feet.
im not an expert, don't even play one on tv, but im gonna guess, its all personal. what your good with, hes not. what hes happy with, I cant touch.
