For those that have bought land...

Lets hear from those that have bought relatively small acreages...Lets say 200-600 +/- acre type ranches.

Did you high or keep low fence?
What would have you done differently?
    What improvements have you done?

    Lets hear your story.

    We bought 250 ac.
No high fence. Not my cup of tea.
Can't say I would do much different.
I have had some senderos done to open up some really thick whitebrush & mesquite flats .
    Had a new pond built.
Had some rock put around camp to make it nicer when wet.
Put up stands & feeders. Both corn & protein. Had a couple of areas opened up to plant food plots.
Had electric company put in 200 amp service.Always planning more. Never ending journey for me.

217 ac. about six years ago. First thing was cutting all timber on perimeter to get a 40'/50' r.o.w all around the place. Cleared the main roads the same way where I would have room enough to build good roads instead of the pig trails that were there. Built and graveled said roads. Cleared food plot areas. Built low water crossings. Installed culverts in some low places on the perimeter so wet weather travel was easier. Thinned some pine plantation and clear cut and planted back 14 ac. Built a 1200 sq. ft. camphouse with porch and carport. Drilled a water well for irrigating food plots. Dropped a bunch of $ and sweat and ain't through yet !
