Has anyone ever tried putting pvc pipe chained on legs to keep them off, as you can see I have a problem. They have destroyed my timer & solar panel

How to keep coons off feeder

Putting pvc only works if your legs have a little bit better of an angle. But it can still work.
Also you need to put some grease on the pvc. Not sure how you would feel about that.
What's happens after a while they spead it all up and down the pvc and can't climb it anyore.
Also after about a year the PVC gets real smooth, and just a little bit of sand or dust on it will have them slipping again.

Don't give them a reason to climb. Get the eliminator spinners and they'll learn they can't access the corn via the motor.
I switched all mine this year and the first few pictures they were still climbing. After a few trips, all the pictures show them on the ground getting whatever is left after the deer/hogs.

I do some of all of it. Couple seasons ago, I trapped over a hundred coons around my feeders with the Duke's coon traps. Monkey chow is good to feed them as they cannot digest it and it will knock back their populations... Bottom line is it is a CONSTANT Battle!

You will hear a bunch of remedies on here with the Eliminator Spinner or SpinTech plate being the most effective IMO.
I've tried grease on the legs and the PVC pipe and they work great for awhile but not long term. The carpet tacks and nails just give the little SHIATS better traction and act as coon "stairs"!
Smaller cages that are too close to the spinner plate will just give them something to swing off of like a dang jungle gym!
Buy the Eliminator OR build a varmint cage as big as the 55 gallon barrel itself. Use the 1" by 1" hardware cloth from tractor supply and NOT the 1" x 2" stuff. It has to big enough to wrap around the bottom lip of the barrel. Wrap around the barrel and fasten with screws and washers...I've also used ratchet straps and don't have to cut in an access door.
Coach W and Smart have educated me well on here!
Yes, it cuts down on the overall radius of the corn being thrown but works.Last edited by RascalArms; 08-06-2015, 07:03 PM.
