Exercise. No sodas, no fast food, less beers. Healthier food. Smaller portions, eat slower so you fill up on less food.

Carbs aren't your enemy, but be smart about consumption. Try and keep carbs out of your diet past 2:00 pm each day unless you run a lot. Once deer season starts, you'll have better opportunity to start eating more truly lean organic meat. Remember, being hungry all the time is not a good way to lose weight. If you're hungry, eat something. Also, drink more water. Unless you take in a gallon a day already, you could stand to drink more.

Also, don't focus on cardio too much. I started losing fat and getting healthier when I cut cardio to about 15-20 minutes per day and started lifting weights more. Muscle gains help burn calories much longer than cardio.

There is a bunch of info in this thread that Johnny started.

I have slowly worked myself into it. And am now hitting the stairmaster and walking a good pace on the treadmill.

If you haven't exercised recently, you might want to ease into it for a couple weeks. Last thing you want to do is injure yourself.

                And walking a lot helps

Most people try and go too strict, too fast and end up giving up and never reaching a better eating alternative, or their goal. I think it's best to start cutting out things a little at a time, starting with the things you can live without the most and then work from there. You might also find it easier to sustain a strict eating lifestyle long term if you work your plan around the 1 or 2 things that you can't live without.

Find an activity that you enjoy and can do conveniently to help burn the excess of calories.

                  Just my thoughts on it..........

Read up on Glycation and see if that changes your mind some on Carbohydrates.

I am not pushing this at all, but it is what I am doing to get started and it is working for me. It was rough the first 2 days but it has been better, do it for 5 days. My brother in law lost over 100 pounds in a little over a year and this is how he got started. He does this once a month besides watching his diet and exercise. I started it and am going to just build from it once I am done with the 5 days.

                              5 day diet plan.

                              BREAKFAST
A quarter avocado, 2 slices of rye bread and 1 boiled egg

                              SNACK 1
                              ½ cup fresh cherries

                              LUNCH
2 cups romain lettuce, 5 oz light tuna in water, 1 cup cherry tomatoes, 1/3 cup thawed frozen corn, 1 cup sliced cucumber, 1 teaspoon olive oil, and 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar (MIX TOGETHER LIKE A SALAD)
NOTE: SPLIT INTO TWO LUNCHES IF TOO MUCH FOR 1 LUNCH

                              SNACK 2
                              ½ cup fresh cherries

                              DINNER
1 cup canned organic black bean soup with 1 cup spinach (Season soup only with Mrs. Dash and/or other herbs and spices EXCEPT SALT choose low sodium brands like Simple Truth from Kroger)
