    Finding Landowners Name

Looking at a specific piece of property to hunt and looking for the landowners name. What is the best way to go about finding this out? Any free services out there? All I have found is stuff you have to pay for online.

Central appraisal district for the county you are looking in. They have maps you can locate the property on and find the owner.

Exactly what Tmag said. Always start with the County's appraisal district website first. Nowadays a lot of counties have GIS maps like mentioned above. Identify the legal description of the property you are interested in to aid in finding the ownership quicker. Usually you will click on the tract and a link to the tax roll sheet will popup. The tax roll should have the owner's name and at least a mailing address, sometimes physical. It will also tell percentage ownership and how many acres owned, usually. There won't be any telephone numbers but, usually when you get an owner's name and address you can take it from there. This is my experience anyhow. Good luck

Search in Google for "(insert county here) Texas appraisal district gis map. Most of the more populated counties have them online and if they don't I would just go to the appraisal district in that county and someone there should be able to help you find exactly what you need.
