    Any Input?????

Here's my rant. Ive been looking pretty extensively for a lease for me and my 8 year old daughter to use this year. Ive inquired about a bunch but none so far have worked out.

Well today I saw an ad for one (I'll leave out name and location.) I called the guy and told him I had the cash and definitely wanted it. Sight unseen is usually a bad idea but it was under 1k and close to home. We had a verbal agreement and time to meet at the ranch to exchange money and nail it down. This was it!!!! I finally found a place to use with my kiddo without having to rely on invites to friends places.

Before I could leave he sent me a text saying a guy who used to lease but got off due to "hard times" got in touch and wanted to get back on. The landowner told me the spot was no longer available to me because of the guy who was on, got off and now wanted back on.

I kind of understand his position if the other guy was a friend who genuinely hit hard times especially if he is a good guy and treats the lease right but still a punch in the gut since we had plans to meet and finalize the deal in a couple hours.

What do you guys/gals think about this? I guess Im back to square one with the clock ticking faster and faster on this coming season. Not looking good for me right now.

Sadly it is just the luck of the draw. Same thing with any lease. Unless you own the land, you are at the mercy of the landowner/manager.

Definitely a bad deal for you but if the landowner had someone already on that he has dealt with in the past maybe he felt more comfortable or maybe he felt obligated to give him his old spot back. who knows why he did it?

That's my thoughts as well. I can understand putting a guy he already has history with back on. I just wish he would've explored that option before listing a spot, agreeing with me on a price, setting a time to meet, etc.. No hard feelings just sucks!

Thanks man! I haven't given up hope yet. This is my first year looking for a "actual" lease and it has been a lot tougher than I thought.
