(oops, poor choice of words) Soon after, Houston TV reporter Marvin Zindler started a media crusade to close it down. I'm sure everyone reading this knows the story, in fact I'd bet that more than several could tell of personal experiences there. I remember when the movie came out I asked my Dad what he knew about the Chicken Ranch. He looked at me with a straight face and said he'd never even heard of the place. (which I seriously doubted since he was at A&M in the 1940's)
Now that's a cash cow, 484 guys in a 48 hour period. I need to open one pretty soon. That's a little over 10 guy's an hour and lets say each guy spends around $50.00 ( on the low end) that's $24,200 in 48 hours

I know part of the movie was filmed here in Hallettsville, but don't know much else about the real deal.

Me too. I was forced to ride along with a group of buck sergeants from Ft Hood.

Professional prostitution isn't $50, more like $500 an hour in the cheap brothels. At least, that's the price range here. The high end places, like the Bunny, are in the thousands.

They moved it, or part of it to upper Greenville Ave in Dallas in the late 70's and opened a restaurant in it, called the Chicken Ranch. I used to eat lunch there occasionally but moved to San Antonio in 1980 and don't know what ever happened to it.

I hear after they closed it, the put a sign on the door. "We're closed, beat it".

I am gonna have to ask my dad about the chicken ranch since he was an Aggie grad in 1973. He can't lie to me and tell me he never went.
