    highway hunting 3a.m.

Texas man was hospitalized after he fired a gun at an armadillo – and the bullet ricocheted back at his head, reported Tyler’s KLTV 7. He was treated for minor injuries.

The incident occurred in the town of Marietta right before 3 a.m. Thursday, and Cass County Sheriff’s officials are investigating the shooting. The man told authorities he felt compelled to shoot at the armadillo after seeing it on the highway.

Sounds like he may have been using a .22, I've had them send a bullet back at me twice, I don't shoot at anything that won't absorb a bullet anymore.

I'm gonna go way out on a limb and consider that alcohol may have indeed been involved.

I'm not sure how far out on that limb you need to be to think you're right. Hell, for that matter, probably can stand on the ground and think the same thing. :-)

My HS buddy's dad owned a junkyard and one day we were looking for a spare for his truck. Found a car with a locked trunk and he thought it might have a spare inside. No key, so he popped a couple of LRs at it from about 5' and the 2d or 3rd shot the bullet splattered and a piece hit him in the face, about an inch below the eye. I could see the fragment but he was a wuss and wouldn't let me pull it out. So-off to the ER and HE got to tell the doc his story, and then the LEO as it was technically a "gunshot" wound. He's the chief of police in our home town now--and one of these days I'm gonna tell the story to his LEOs---
