Need some help with a problem with my dog....

Ok we have a new rescue mastiff . He is 3 years old . When we got him he was about 80 lbs underweight . We have got him gaining weight . The problem we have is his ears . Man they stink ,even if we clean them everyday they smell like a dead animal. Any ideas how to help this problem ?

Probably has a yeast infection. Look at tractor supply or pet store for PH solution to flush them with. If he'll tolerate you using a q-tip you can speed things up by using the q-tip to get the bulk of the gunk out

Green alcohol you can buy at Krogers works really good on my mutts, not to much and they have all started loving their ears cleaned.

Either that or ear mites. I had a cocker spaniel that had ears that smelled like the north end of a south bound rhinoceros; it was ear mites.

I'd stay away from alcohol based ear cleaners. Dries out the ears too much and can be painful to the dog if they have scratched their ears enough to have abrasions or cuts in them. We (wife is a vet) use an ear cleaning solution for our dogs that you can get lots of places. It's made by VetSolutions and you can get it in most stores with a pet section. If the smell continues it may be bacterial and need some antibiotics or short term prednisone to help clear them up

Vinegar will help without drying out the ear canal like alcohol.
