    Broken/Bruised Coccyx

Has anyone experienced having a bruised or broken coccyx (tail bone)? I actually broke mine in an accident 10+ years ago, but also injured my back at the same time. Since I was stuck on bed rest for my back and on high doses of narcotics I don't remember the pain being this bad. I injured it again 9 days ago and the pain is horrible. I iced it for the first few days and have been taking vicuprofen to ease the pain. Haven't been to the doctor for it, since it's my understanding there's little they can do for you. I wake up every time I turn over in my sleep and riding in my truck is the worst pain. I bought one of those donuts to sit on, but it doesn't help. I have to sit and put all the weight on one hip or in a chair I lean forward and put the weight across the back of my thighs.
Has anyone experienced this? If so did you find anything that would ease the pain? And how long did the pain last?

I bruised my tail bone on a 4 hour ATV ride in the mountains of Mexico. I lived in pain for a few years. I met a physical therapist who told me about FOOT REFLXOLOGY. She gave me a picture of the foot, on it are different areas that corrispond to areas in the body. On the heel there is an area, that when I massaged it, the pain went away.
I have been pain free for a few years now.
Good luck. I know what you are going through and hope this very simple little thing might help you, too !

Yea this is ridiculous...you don't realize how much you use your rear until it's in extreme pain. Once I'm sitting, standing up has to be the next worse pain. I guess there are some muscles in play when standing that I never knew about.

Messed mine up in college. Slipped on the icy steps going to the commons. Went to the hospital. Got drugs and had to sit on a donut for over a month. Hurt like crazy! X-ray showed I actually busted the tip of it. Still acts up every once in a while and that was 30 years ago.

I don't know if I bruised or broke mine 2 years ago, but it took a loooooong time to heal. I remember it getting better, then I did squats at the gym and it started all over again. I had to sit on one hip or the other for months. I want to say the pain came and went, depending on my activities, for about a year. Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear. :/

I broke mine when I was 17, terrible pain. I fell again a few years ago and the pain seemed much worse the 2nd time around. Re-injuring an old break like that is a bad deal.

I'm thinking this may be what happened.

Couple years ago fell on a new wood floor me and my dad did at his house and bruised it, then about 2 weeks later fell and broke it in a parking lot in Ohio on ice. Worst plane ride ever on the way back. Was bad for a year. Had to get a coccyx pillow and all that. One thing that did help was taking ibuprofen like clockwork for a while to help with the inflammation. It's a lot better now but if I'm sitting down for extended periods of time or driving for a long time it goes to hurting. So your in for it for a while bud.

                            I heard riding a horse bare-back will reduce the pain , j/k

coccyx and calcaneus (heel) are the 2 bones you NEVER want to fracture

long term misery and chronic pain
