    Sweeny, TX area?

    Hey guys,
I might be taking a job in Sweeny, TX but I've never been there or around that area. I have 2 small kiddos (7 yo girl and 2 yo boy) and want a good neighborhood for them to be in. That's why I'm seeking y'all's help. I won't have time to look for a good place when I start to work, so if y'all have any suggestions, please help me out.

I don't mind a commute under 30 min. But I don't want to live an hour away from work.
I don't mind middle of the road living, but my wife is a little higher end, so somewhere nice to nicer.
    GOOD SCHOOL is a must.
    Close to shopping
Neighborhoods are good so my kids can make friends, but I do not want city living.

Anything you can think of that fits that bill, please let me know.
I've been on the Google line, but nothing will be better than 1st hand knowledge of an area.

    Thank y'all!

Sweeny is a neighborhood! Small town. You could look at living on the Bernard or in lake Jackson. Also lots of options for acreage out of town.

Several nice houses for sale in Bar X Ranch, you'd be about 20 minutes from Phillips (I assume that's where you'd working). You could be in Angleton or West Columbia school districts, depending on the address. Lots of deer to run an arrow through as well.

That's right down the road from me. My address says Brazoria but I'm about 8 miles south of Sweeny. I live Sweeny, great place for your kids. If you get down here holler at me and I'll show you around. I've got some pigs to shoot as well.

I think that the Sweeny, Brazoria, Lake Jackson are has one of the highest per-capita concentrations of TBH members. It is a great place to raise a family. My niece just bought some property in Lazy Oaks south of Sweeny. Nice houses back in there on acerage lots. Some on the Bernard river. A huge number of people moving in because of construction at the plants so housing and land is harder to find. Lot of RV parks sprouting up to support temp workers. Alford realty is based in Sweeny. May give them a try. I would stay away from the real estate office that starts with H in Brazoria.

If you have kids who play baseball, Sweeny just built one of the nicest highschool baseball/softball complexes I have ever seen. My son will play college ball somewhere, and short of playing professional ball, I don't think he will ever play on a nicer field. Good people live in that area.

Yep. We went to watch Sweeny play a playoff game there. Unbelievably nice field for a high school team.

I have an "in" at the power plant.
Still trying to convince the wife that it's a good move.
While I'll be making a great deal more than I currently am, the Bar X may be a little to far above our means until the wife can find employment as well. Looking to stay below $200K

Nice to see that there are plenty of friends down that way!
Thanks for the invite and for the input!

Not sure if you know of any openings for my wife -Not being bias at all! Seriously!- She is the best Office Administrator that I've ever seen. She basically runs the office at a big paint company distribution center in Waco. She's way under paid for what she does, but convinced that she can't find a competing paycheck if she leaves. (decent pay for Waco, but they abuse her knowledge and work ethics and she has created a glass ceiling for herself because she's so good at what she does.)

Any help there would be much appreciated as well!
She could probably get on at the plant but I haven't heard of any openings that would suit her skills.

Bar X is country enough for you and high class enough for her. That's where I would suggest
