    Bass boat value question

Hey guys, I am trying to get a ballpark value on a boat. NADA shows that the boat value between $12-13,000. Here is where the fun starts: single axle trailer with spare tire carrier, all 3 tires are almost 9 years old. 2 batteries, cranking and deep cycle, both are about 5 years old and the cranking battery is not holding a charge overnight. Both sonars are about 9 years old and were inexpensive when new. The boat is in good shape. The hull has less than 5 scuff marks from docks, timber, etc. The motor is 9 years old and has under 20 hours on it. Impeller was replaced within last 4 months. All pumps (bilge, livewell, aerator) work. Navigation lights work. Tachometer is not working. Slight mildew stains on back of seats. There are no upgrades on this boat (led lights, powerpole, keel guard, on board charger, etc)

What would be a realistic value for this boat knowing this information?

From your description I would say 7-8 thousand. It sounds like you will have to put some more money in it after the purchase.

I figure it's a $10k boat. Either $10,000 with everything already handled, or $8000 + $2000 in additional expenses. Is that too far fetched?

My estimate is without seeing the boat.
Has it been sitting long? If so the tank will need to be cleaned
Has the fuel filters been changed?
Are the fuel lines capable of handling fuel with ethanol?
What kind of shape is the trailer axle and hubs.
Are the trailer bunks in good shape?
Does it come with life vest and coast guard kit?
These are all things that you should check because they can nickel and dime you to death. It sounds like you will already have to put $600 on just batteries and tires. You will also have the cost of tax and licensing on the boat and trailer. You start adding new electronics and a power pole you will be well above $2000.

All the fuel lines and filters are good, boat runs strong. Has been ran 4 times for about 1-2 hours each time in the last 2 months. Trailer is in good shape. Axles and hubs are in good shape (just made a 350 mile round trip w/o issue.) Bunks are in good shape as well. All lights are in working order. Has life vest, throwable, whistle, kill switch, flares, air horn, etc.

It sounds like $8000 would be a good offer as it sits.

Yep I bet you will be fortunate to get 7500 and I bet you have to sit on it a while.

I checked NADA and it says between 8-10 thousand. Bottom line is Nitro's don't hold value, that boat is underpowered with a 90. All boats will need batteries at some point and trailers need tire's as well. PowerPole and High Tech electronics are nice but you definitely don't need them immediately.

You guys are confirming my thoughts. It is my stepdad's boat. There are so many nice boats available once you break the $10,000 mark that a 17.5' boat with a 90 on the back is a tough sale. I appreciate the prompt responses. The silver lining is that I get to use it until it sales.

5k-8k would be my guess in the current market if you want to move it in the next few months.
