I passed the test and now it is OFFICIAL!

After I received word that I had passed the Special Education certification test this past Saturday morning, I received the call from HR at Central Office for LISD. I have officially been offered the SEBSS, Social, Emotional, Behavior Support Specialist, position at Ramirez IB Elementary.

It seems as if my life has come full circle now. The reason my wife and I moved up here to Lubbock in July of 1975 was to start teaching/coaching at Frenship High School. That only lasted 3 years because of money (teacher base in 1975 was a measly $8600 per year!) and I have been in the private sector until December of 2012 when I accepted a TA position at Ramirez.

I do not regret anything I have done after I quit teaching/coaching, but the really odd thing is if I had stayed in either the teaching field or coached, this p[ast year would have been my 40th year! I would and could have already been retired. Oh well, no tears on my part. I am excited and blessed to be going back to what I started with only with the young kids and a totally different field.

Thanks to everyone that sent me prayers, good luck and well wishes for the journey of mine the summer. Thank you.

It is now offficially OFFICIAL! I signed my school employment contract at 2 pm this afternoon, so I guess nothing stands in my way of teaching this year for Lubbock ISD, that is unless I really screw up!
I am very excited and happy and looking forward to starting the school year and hopefully become a positive influence on the kids I will have in the Social, Emotional and Behavioral Support Services classroom (Special Education).
