My dad drives a 2008 Cadillac DTS. Car has just under 100K miles on it.
He is trying to sell it and had it parked in the parking lot of our storage facility. Some jackwagon in a Penske rental truck backed into the car (back left quarter panel) and proceeded to push it from parallel with the truck to perpendicular with the truck. (It is all on camera!)
As we are trying to get all of the insurance figured out, my dad has been driving the car (probably 150 miles). Well, on Saturday the thing wouldn't move and had drained lots of fluid out. After being towed to the dealership, they tell him the transmission is shot (they say over $5K for a new one).
My question is whether pushing the car sideways a few feet could have caused/contributed to the transmission problem.
(I realize there are lots of other issues here, like where to get a cheaper transmission, etc. - but the only concern right now is whether the transmission problem could be/was caused by or compounded by the accident.)
