    It's been about 3 years since I was active so that is a lot of time for rules to change. What I remember is that if you act with good intentions within reasonable means of your skill and abilities than you are safe. Failure to act would only come into play if someone knew your background and saw you neglect to render aid. A lot goes into that and it gets kinda grey. What I do know is that as someone who has chosen that career I doubt you would ever sit on the sidelines if you saw someone in need and it was safe for you to assist.

    Like I said though it's been a while and they like update these rules all the time so not sure how accurate my info is

      That's kind of where I'm at Hooligan. I feel like I should equip myself to deal with anticipated and possible situations, then deal with whatever comes up. I feel that I can defend my position for doing the right thing for the patient (would also be a friend most likely, but you never know what the receiving facility docs might do/say). It's quite a bit harder to defend, "Well, I knew what to do and had the equipment to do it, but I was out of my jurisdiction and off duty so I waited for EMS to arrive."

        This is a really good thread, some good info here! It is definitely something that everyone should think about adding to their outdoor pack.
